Samsonite - A life in luggage
by admin on Nov.11, 2008, under Brands
If you were to ask your average holiday maker what their chosen luggage brand is, and why they remain loyal to it, I am sure in the main you would be greated by a blank expression. To many holiday travellers brand loyalty would remain a mystery, and the reserve only of the clothing industry. With the majority of consumers choosing luggage on the basis of colour, pattern, weight, size, price and general appeal. If you were to pose the very same question, this time to a business traveller then the answer would be very different. You would expect to hear back tales of their given luggage having lasted many years, being reliable, strong and always dependable. As a business traveller you simply cannot afford to be let down by you luggage, your suitcase carries your life on the road after all.
With this in mind, who do the real movers and shakers of the world rely upon for their daily luggage needs? The answer we hear time and time again is always one word, three syllables; “Samsonite”. Samsonite is a brand name with a truly global reputation. Synonymous for high quality, reliability, strength, design and more over their customers brand loyalty. The next time you happen to find yourself in terminal 5 at Heathrow, with some time to spare take a look around you. Pay careful attention to the business travellers walking by, and Scrutinise their luggage (though not to the degree by which you draw attention to yourself!). So how in an already over saturated market place have Samsonite managed to establish their brand identity so well. It certainly didn’t happen overnight!
The Samsonite brand was first born in 1910, designed for turn of the century travellers by it’s founder Jesse Shwayder. As travel evolved more into a main-stream activity, so grew the Samsonite range and subsequently brand. Continuing the journey, Samsonite manufactured a string of ‘firsts’, including the first matching luggage sets, the first lightweight luggage and the first wheeled suitcases, to name just a few. From the roaring twenties, the Depression era, WWII, the rise of the jet age, the exciting sixties and beyond, Samsonite has continued to transform the travel industry through its rich brand history.
As a business traveller myself, I need to look professional whilst carrying a whole manner of technology and clothing requirements. My allegiance has therefore always remained true to Samsonite, using both their Prox garment spinner on wheels for the day to day business trips, and the Unity ICT Formal 15.4″ Laptop Office Case Plus for my Laptop requirements. With both of these products I never have to think about my luggage, I can simply use my time to concentrate on the work required of me. It has nothing to do with working for a luggage and bag company, neither that I get discounts on my purchases :) I am truly a Samsonite convert, and hope to remain so.
Samsonite can be purchased direct from www.bagsdirect.com. With Free UK mainland next working day delivery on all orders over £35.00.
